Bio Anne & Ben Sibthorpe

img1582web-1BEN AND ANNE SIBTHORPE and their 5 children have been working for Mission Aviation Fellowship since 1999.
Their first exposure to mission work was when they met in Macedonia on a church youth missions trip. Ben was studying to be an aircraft engineer and Anne had just begun a teaching degree. Married in 1997 they worked for two years in the UK and then moved out to Tanzania in East Africa to begin their first assignment with MAF. Ben worked in the hangar, progressed to hangar foreman while Anne worked in the town Christian primary school. God gave them opportunities to get involved in a local church and support the mission work out into the bush and also invite children from their neighbourhood to learn bible stories and play on the compound.

After 4 years in Tanzania they moved to work with MAF in N'djamena Chad. Ben took up the position of Chief engineer and Maintenance controller. Anne helped out part time teaching English in the American school until their 3rd child was born when she stayed at home to look after the children. Their three eldest children all attended the French school in N'djamena and have consequently learnt French. The experiences of a new culture and relationships with Arabic families in their neighbourhood was a great privilege. Their fourth child was born while the family were in England, sparing the upheaval of another evacuation when fighting broke out again in Chad.

Anne and Ben felt they were being called again to move and in 2010 arrived in MAF Australia. Several months later their fifth child was born. Ben began to work in the maintenance facility which supports all the smaller bases of the pacific and northern Australian provinces.

In all their time with MAF they have experience God's guidance and grown through the challenges that they have faced in the situations around them.

They pray that God will continue to work in their lives and in those whom they have been able to have relationships with. They know that what they do is God's work for His glory and not just good works that they strive to do. As Paul said to the Phillipians....Phil 1:4-6 (KJV)

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, ? For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; ? Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
