Quite a few of the Highway men had a practice run for the Camp this weekend at the Father and Sons conference in Worcester. We had roughly 25 men from Highway attend over the whole weekend with a mixture of day vistors and campers (Can you guess who stayed in a hotel?). The preaching was very powerful and relevant and I would recommend, if you were not able to attend, that you try to get the dvd of the weekend. For me the fellowship was fantastic and would like to thank everyone for making it a memorable time. A special mention goes to Gabriel for his fire pit and for making breakfast both mornings and to Chris for our general amusement (You had to be there or have seen the video). There is something special about an open fire and it was great to be able to sit around our fire in fellowship. That brings me back to the Camp 2009. We will have a fire on one of the nights but I want to reassure you all that Chris will not be in charge. Our prep’ for the camp is well on schedule and, new for this year, is video recording of some aspects of the camp. This will predominately be in the barn during preaching and worship although we may also video some of the fun and games if appropriate. We are also considering having a Fish & Chip van on the Saturday night after the Celebration. What do you think???? Let me know via the comments link below. One area that takes a lot of prep’ for each Camp is the Children’s groups and overseeing all the Kids’ groups this year is Julie Bridgman. Julie has been involved in all the Camps with the Children’s work and has the experience which is vital to the smooth running of the sessions. Julie also leads the Admin’ side of the camp so is pretty busy at the moment. On a serious note, all the people who help with the Children’s sessions are especially committed as they miss a major part of the preaching/talks because they are looking after our kids. So, please support Julie and her teams in whatever way you choose. You will all be pleased to hear we will have the Climbing Wall and Inflatable Assault Course again this year. The swimming pool will be open at various times but we will probably have designated times for certain age groups, for safety’s sake. Must go now as I have a list of Camp actions which I want to get through before I leave the Church office today. This blog was one of the tasks so I can now tick it as done. Be blessed Dave G |
