From One Camp to The Next...
Monday, 09 August 2010 11:01

I create this blogs whilst sitting on one of Sweden's finest buses. (Well, I've actually seen finer in Thailand. They give you food). But this one's is okay, because I am comfortable, and can access the internet! Woop woop!

I am on my way to Örkelljunga, which is near Helsingborg, in the south of Sweden, called Skåne. In english it is Skania. Did you know that? Today I am going to meet Andy and Louise and Becky. Tomorrow I am going to work at a youth camp called 'Puls'. I will be on the prayer team and help out.

On Sunday I got back from another summer youth camp called UngdomsOAS/Credo. It was so fun! I, along with some pretty awesome people had the pleasure of being in charge of the 'Party Tent'- where the young ones hang out, play games and we have evening activities. We from YWAM Restenäs also had our booth there (see picture). As you can see from the picture I also got to sing 'Beloved', a song that I wrote at a morning prayer. It was a really great time, and it is amazing to see the passion for God in the leaders I worked with, and the youth.

I am privileged to work with youth in Sweden. It is a fun, but sometimes tough job, but I like it!

After Puls, I will spend a week at Restenäs before our 'Staff Days', then we will be a team from YWAM at 'Frizon' which is a Christian Youth Music festival. FUN!! This is a great place to inspire people for Missions.

That's it from me. Over and OUT!

Have a fun summer.

Stuff I figured out about China...
Tuesday, 20 July 2010 04:34

So, I have been back over a week now from the lovely land of China! One more country in Asia covered. So far it's 5. Cool.

We had a great time with the team, learned about patience, flexibility, and stuff not going the way you wanted it to, but that's being in a different culture and getting used to it! It is also a lot about learning. Learning how to humble yourself, and follow 'Daddy' on what do to next.

I have sent out a newsletter which describes our trip in more detail, and because one has to be a little bit careful on the web, thought I would blog a little 'lite' today. So here are some things I learned about China...Enjoy!

1. Like many Asian nations, wearing a seat-belt is SO not the 'in' thing to do. It is considered offensive to the taxi driver if you even reach for your belt (trust me, I tried! He told me NOT to put it on!).

2. Also like many Asian nations, they drive like crazy. Baffling the unwisest as to why on earth they don't use seat-belts. Every time you cross a road is a victory. Every day you come home is another day you get to survive. Amen.

3. Foot massage in China mean body massage! It's great! You pay for your feet, and then you get your back, shoulders, legs done too! And they use there own body parts to massage you! So worth it!

4. Chinese food is YUM! But I think I already knew that....

5. The Chinese like to get together and dance a lot! Very cool! They do this late at night, all in like a market square or something. In the mornings they come to the same place to work out, do tai-chi, rollerblade, kick about.

6. If you don't understand what someone is saying in Chinese, it's okay because then they will take a piece of paper and write it down for you. In Chinese writing. Uh, Nope, still don't have a clue. Thanks though!

7. One time I drank a sweet potato latte. It was de-lish!

8. Loves the fact that the Chinese are nice people. Very helpful and sweet. Fun to practice my little chinese phrases with them!

Okay. Think that's enough thinking for today. Am rather tired. Must go.

Lots of love!

China....HERE WE COME!!!!
Tuesday, 29 June 2010 05:03

I am sitting on my couch looking outside at the very light evening.... midsummers eve is coming up, meaning that it will be totally light here this weekend, for a very long time....

But I won't be here this weekend. No. That's because I will be in CHINA!!!! Wow. I never thought I would ever visit China, but you know, I am glad that I get this chance to go! I will be leading a team of us (picture above), I am so excited! I look forward to seeing how they grow and experience the new culture, the work we do, the adventure of following God, and how they are changed by it all!

We will be visiting and helping out in a few orphanages, perhaps do some practical work, and hang out with the nice people of China!

And, to the Great Wall we must! One cannot go to China without seeing the Great Wall, and Tiananmen Square!

But we hope to come back with hearts closer to God, having shown His Love to His people there, friends, and memories for a lifetime.

Please think of me when I'll be travelling on a train for 24 hours..... I've actually heard their trains are quite nice!

Peace,

Sam

Jet-Lagged
Tuesday, 29 June 2010 05:03
It's 5 a.m. I am UP!!! So I decided to get creative. Here are some tips for the jet-lagged among us.

1. Fight the urge to go to the bathroom at 4 in the morning when you are jet-lagged. No matter how relieved you are, you'lll NEVER get back to sleep.

2. What better time to process your trip than when you are tossing and turning in bed? Always a great time for those imaginary conversations you want to have with people too.

3. No matter how knackered you are after 15 hours of travelling, you MUST pick up milk, eggs, cereal, and bread. Otherwise you'll be up at 4 a.m, with NOTHING to eat. Like me. This is NOT an excuse to eat all the candy you brought back with you.

4. The great thing about being jet-lagged is you get to do stuff early in the morning! Like downloading your photo's, or writing a blog about it! The crappy thing is, everyone else is sleeping so you'll wake the people downstairs up if you start unpacking and walking around in your room....

5. Coffee is a good thing to have at home. Coffee is a good thing to have at home. Coffee is a good thing to have at home. (Dang it! I have no coffee!!!!)

That's about all my brain has for this moment, now I need to try and find some food to eat along with some black tea....

Love!

And so the end of much stuff o

Tja! Hallå!

This weekend Ellen and I went to Bengtsfors, which is about 1.5 hours away from Restenäs. The whole MOB team were there in January, and a few of us were asked back to help them with music in their confirmation services.

We did 2 services on Saturday, before going home to the pastor and his family to eat pizza. I had chicken, peanuts, curry and banana on mine! Then we all went out to fika, and then in the evening we hung out with the 3 oldest kids (they have 5) and watched Avatar. Interesting watching, kinda weird and it gave you a kind of 'Matrix' feeling. Will probably not watch it again, but I know I WILL watch Matrix again. It's just so much better....

On Sunday we sang at 3 services, and the last one was lots of fun! It was for one confirmand only, but it was lovely and a great feeling all around.... Oh! and we saw a moose!

Highway
Last weekend some of the youth from Highway (my church in England) came to Restenäs! I was totally honoured! We had such a great time, hanging out with them, hosting them, and going to Gothenburg together. That was fun!

Summer
I am going on a trip to China in the summer! Will go with some girls, will be there for 18 days! It will be fun, a challenge, and inspiring!

Canada
I am off on my holidays to Canada on Wednesday, to visit my mum, sister and other friends and family. I haven't been there for 3 years, will be great!!!

Okilidokili. Will hopefully blog from Canada. I look forward to seeing people that I haven't seen in years!

Me x
P.S (they are some of the youth from Highway on your right..)
