Babystore

A local help group run by four local ladies who have a big heart for families. Founded by Debbie Nixon, fronted by Becky Barton and Claire Howett and aided by Karen Stoddart, these ladies have provided childrens clothes and toys through Bicester’s health visitors and other contacts.

Debbie used to run Babystore by going to Toddler Groups offering the above second hand products for a small donation.

The ladies are now wanting to grow the concept significantly over the coming year and are currently planning a re-launch at Garth Park Family Fun Day in September.

The girls are wanting to help vulnerable families, young mums, single parents, and anyone else who are in need of baby goods during difficult financial times - help comes in a variety of ways such as:

- Baby Bundles, consisting of sleep suits, baby grows, hats and cardigans, Blankets etc. Bundles will vary from season to season.

They are also hoping to put a questionnaire and a wish list to establish long term contact with the family. They plan to ask and hopefully service the following:

- If you could receive one luxury idem for your nursery, what would it be?

- Name three items of baby equipment you would like but can’t afford.

- List three essential baby items.

Currently looking for larger more central location in the centre of Bicester the ladies in the future plan not only to provide goods to people but hope through their local knowledge to be able to guide people to a variety of professional groups who may be able to help in many ways, I.e. Bicester Children’s Association, MIND, Causeway Centre, Health Visitor etc. - see them at Garth Park on 12th September 2009.
